DAY 4 – SATURDAY, MARCH 9
SEA OF GALILEE / MOUNT OF BEATITUDES / CAPERNAUM / CHORAZIM / YARDENIT
Begin the day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, viewing a spectacular and special panorama that Jesus also observed. You can only imagine the stories and experiences that took place in biblical history. After docking, we will stroll through the Yigal Allon Museum which houses the amazing ancient fishing boat discovered and preserved from the time of Jesus. Visit the Mount of Beatitudes. Near this site, Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount, taught on frequent occasions, and performed many miracles. We will spend some time on the mountainside to pray, sing and meditate on God’s Word. Down the road are two special places. Capernaum, Jesus’ home base, is where the majority of his recorded miracles were experienced. We will actually see the site that history confirms as Peter’s home. The other site, Bethsaida, is the birth village of Peter, Andrew, and Phillip. The site has been excavated lately with many new findings. For lunch you will have the St. Peter’s fish. Next, you’ll visit Chorazim and its excavations. We’ll see the synagogue and the seat of Moses. A stop on the shore of St. Peter’s Primacy where the event of John 21 is believed to have take place. Afterwards, you’ll drop by the recent discovery of biblical city – Magdala. Our day concludes with a memorable and important visit to Yardenit, a pastoral site on the Jordan River, where many choose to be baptized (optional). Dinner and Overnight: Hotel in Tiberias.
DAY 7 – TUESDAY, MARCH 12
DEAD SEA SPA / MASADA / EIN GEDI / MT. SCOPUS
Today, we will start the day with a relaxing morning floating on the Dead Sea or enjoying some Dead Sea Spa treatments. After lunch, we will drive to Masada, a desert fortress begun in 100 BCE and completed by Herod in 20 BCE. At this place, 960 Jews committed suicide rather than die at the hands of the Romans in 73 CE! We will ascend to the plateau by cable car and explore this engineering feat. Afterwards, we visit Ein Gedi. We then begin to anticipate our climatic climb “up to” the key attraction of Israel – the majestic, celebrated city of Jerusalem on Mount Scopus. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Jerusalem.
DAY 10 – FRIDAY, MARCH 15
ISRAEL MUSEUM / YAD VASHEM / GARDEN TOMB / SHABBAT SERVICE & DINNER
We begin our day with a visit to the Israel Museum and the Scale Model of Jerusalem (1:50 scale model of Herodian Jerusalem as it would have appeared in Jesus’ time). A visit to Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. We will conclude our day with communion at the Garden Tomb, an alternative site that some believe to be the actual site of the crucifixion, Golgotha. This has become a special place for many Christians to reflect upon the death and resurrection of Jesus. Late checkout from the hotel and drive to Tel Aviv to attend Shabbat service and dinner at the Chosen People Ministries. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for overnight.
